The Process

The process from start to finish

1. Schedule Your Consultation

Choose a date and time that works best for you using Calendly. No back-and-forth emails trying to find a time—we'll let the calendar do the work.

2. Tell Me About Your Property

You'll answer a few questions about your property, your goals, and your address. The address helps me confirm you're within my current service area, and your answers help me come prepared with ideas specific to your property.

3. I Review Everything & Confirm Your Appointment

I'll review your questionnaire, confirm that you're within my service area, and send you a Square payment link. Once payment is received, I'll officially confirm your consultation and send an email explaining exactly what to expect.

4. Consultation Day

On the day of your appointment, I'll send you a quick text or email to let you know I'm on my way. I always aim to arrive a few minutes early so we can make the most of our time together.

5. We Walk Your Property Together

We'll tour your property—or head straight to the area you'd like to improve—and talk through your goals, the existing conditions, and any challenges or opportunities I notice along the way.

Because you've already answered the questionnaire, we can spend less time gathering information and more time discussing solutions.

6. We Build a Plan Around Your Goals

Every homeowner is different, so I'll ask questions like:

  • How much maintenance are you comfortable with?

  • Do you have favorite plants or colors?

  • Are there plants you dislike?

  • Do you want to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, birds, or other wildlife?

  • Are you hoping to reduce mowing, solve drainage problems, or simply enjoy spending more time outside?

The goal is to create recommendations that fit your lifestyle—not just what looks good on paper.

7. Ask Me Anything

This is your opportunity to ask questions about your property, native plants, invasive species, maintenance, or anything else that's on your mind.

If I don't know the answer, I'll tell you honestly—and I'll research it and get back to you as soon as possible.

8. Drone Photos (Optional)

If you think you'd like a landscape design in the future, I can take aerial photos of your property (with your permission and weather permitting).

This helps document your property and may save you the cost of scheduling a separate visit later. Depending on FAA airspace requirements and weather conditions, this typically takes about 20–30 minutes.

9. Realistic Expectations

Before we wrap up, we'll talk about what to realistically expect moving forward.

We'll discuss things like:

  • Site preparation

  • Planting timelines

  • Watering during establishment

  • Weeding expectations

  • Seasonal changes

  • How the garden will mature over time

I believe it's important that you understand both the benefits and the responsibilities before starting your project.

10. You're Not Left Wondering What to Do Next

The consultation doesn't end when I leave your property. Over the next week, I'll send you the resources and personalized recommendations we discussed so you can move forward with confidence.

FAQs

How long does the consultation last?

Typically 1 hour, 1.5 hours if we take aerial photos

Do I need to know anything about plants?

Not at all. This is beginner friendly and after you receive your personalized improvement plan, you can absolutely DIY. Just prepare yourself for some labor.

Will you pressure me to hire you afterward?

Hard NO.
My mission is to have a native garden in every yard. I can't do it all myself.
I don't like when I'm pressured to hire a professional, so I will not do that to you. What I will do is explain the process and you can decide if you are willing to do the work that is required to create your desired garden.

Can I do the work myself?

Absolutely! I encourage you to tackle this yourself.

Can we walk the entire property?

Sure if you'd like. Depending on the size of your property it might eat into our time discussing the area you have in mind, but this is all about you and I'm here to answer questions and help you add a native garden to your yard!

What if it's raining?

I'm down if you are. It would be safer to avoid going out in thunderstorms though. However, it is an excellent opportunity to see how your yard performs in the rain. We get to see how water moves across your yard, where it settles, and potential high ground that will stay drier than the rest of the yard.
If you're wanting aerial photos, I can't fly the drone in inclement weather so keep that in mind.
Or we can reschedule for better weather. Up to you!

Do you work on new homes?

Yes! These are the most exciting properties! Blank canvas that give you so much potential!

Can you identify mystery plants?

I can certainly give you a ball park answer between a few different species.
